About Joan
I’m a guitar teacher with over 4 years of experience and an Associate Degree in Guitar Performance. I’ve had the joy of working in community-based programs, local gigs, and school enrichment clubs, sharing my love for music with learners of all ages. I especially love guiding first-time players through their very first chord, solo, and performance. Those moments of discovery and accomplishment are what make teaching so rewarding. My lesson approach is built around curiosity, connection, and consistent encouragement. I believe every student’s journey is unique, and I tailor lessons to spark excitement and confidence. Whether you’re picking up the guitar for the first time or getting ready for your first stage appearance, I’m here to support you. Together, we’ll make learning fun and meaningful. My teaching approach is all about making guitar lessons fun and approachable, especially for beginners. I use color-coded tabs and simple melodies to help students learn quickly without feeling overwhelmed.
We start with finger muscle warm-ups to build strength and flexibility in a gentle way. Sound pattern recognition and listening exercises are key parts of our practice—they help train your ear and develop musical intuition.
Strumming games keep the lessons playful and engaging, so you stay motivated every step of the way. I believe in creating a friendly, supportive environment where you can connect emotionally with the music.
Lessons are structured with clear, manageable goals, giving you a sense of progress while keeping the fun alive. Whether you’re a late bloomer or someone who enjoys playful challenges, I tailor the pace to suit your style.
