About Sean
Halou, Hiya, Sean here. I'm a native Chinese speaker from the north of China with an integrated master's degree in engineering at Glasgow Uni now based at NE England, and I can't wait for you to embark on a journey through the Chinese language and culture with me together!
Being a fluent English speaker (and a current French learner) myself, I understand the pain when it comes to navigating a language so vastly different from your mother tongue, especially at the beginning phase. That's why it's essential to set up achievable goals in order to fully master a language, which varies dependent on the individual. With me, you'll have my undivided attention, and we'll map out a learning plan suitable for you and you only!

When it comes to learning a new language, confidence is everything. That's why I aim to create a learning environment tailored to your own pace, assessed levels and individual specs.
Lessons themselves will include listening, speaking, reading and writing. While that may sound like a lot, I'd like to throw in fun activities like story time and role playing, coupled with authentic, carefully selected articles from Chinese textbooks back in China (which I found so useful when I was learning Chinese as a school kid). I also got a lot to recommend when it comes to films and audios, and I'll certainly incorporate some of them into the curriculum. We'll also get a taster of Chinese culture. I am an experienced calligrapher and poet, and I always find these elements essential for getting a holistic picture of the Chinese language as a whole, thus worth incorporating as part of the course.
I will be pushing for homework, but I swear I will be super chill and always focus on preserving the motivation for language learning above all else.
