I have extensive knowledge on methods to teach both Reading and Math. I have developed my own reading curriculum for younger students to advance them academically and build a strong literacy foundation. I can help students K-6th grades prepare for success in the classroom and for standardized testing. I believe that every child/person is capable of academic success and growth. When this is taught properly and based on the person's specific needs, the learning process will create a positive self-image/self-esteem by experiencing success. I believe that building personal relationships with all my students plays an important role in the learning process which helps to foster a love of learning. I have various approaches to teaching content and believe in hands-on, immediate feedback and demonstrating various methods to master skills. I also believe in direct explicit instruction and repetition/review of skills until they are completely mastered with confidence. I am trained in ESL strategies and have a Bachelor's Degree in education from UTA.
