I am a professional teacher with a Master's in Education, focused on modern languages. I have taught English as a Second Language abroad in Montpellier, France, and Mexico City. I like to work together with my students to figure out for what purpose they are learning English and cater our lessons toward that (business, traveling, exam, etc.). I believe language is a spoken thing, therefore I value conversation and speaking skills over grammar, although I am happy to teach grammar if that's what you need. With most students, I will choose an interesting topic of conversation, ask you a handful of open-ended questions about it, and together we will correct any mistakes or I will suggest new vocabulary. I understand learning a new language can be intimidating. You may be shy to speak or feel embarrassed to make mistakes. I had the same feelings when learning French and Spanish. As a teacher, I will be encouraging and patient to help you in your learning goals. I am happy to teach students of all levels and ages.
