About Jillian
I am highly qualified, as I have completed 6 years of college. I have a 4-year degree in TESL, a 2-year Master’s degree in TESL, and I am TEFL Certified. I have taught English to university students, as well as to children and adults in Italy. During my Master’s degree I also took several literature and linguistics classes, and am planning on getting my Doctorate in Linguistics in the future. I understand the structure and history of languages, as well as the processes our brain goes through when learning a new language. I’m learning a second language, myself, so I understand you!

I believe that every language is important and valuable. Me, for example, I study Italian and live in Italy, even though I am American! When two people from different cultures interact with each other, it’s an opportunity for a cultural exchange to happen: for two people to grow and learn about the world. My lessons will not be focused on grammar, but on using the language in the “real world”! Speaking, conversation, and, yes, reading and grammar are important too. However, it’s more important that you are understood than whether or not you put a comma in the right place. We can focus on a large variety of materials and topics. I will cater to the student!
