About Tom
I have been passionate about the natural world since I was around 5 years old, and enjoy sharing my enthusiasm with my students. I can appreciate that school is not fun for every student, as it is easy to get lost in the hordes of pupils that a teacher must cater for each day. In fact, when I started my IGCSEs in year 9 I was predicted not to pass a single subject. I left the school system and started teaching myself online, passing all of my IGCSEs with exceptional results (achieving 9s and 8s). I attained a level 9 for Biology, and so went on to study it for A level alongside Chemistry and Environmental Science. Since then I was a medallist in the 2021 UK Biology Olympiad, gained lab experience at UCL, was lectured on epigenetics at the Babraham Institute and gained qualification in ELISA immunochemistry testing before starting my BSc in Genetics. I look forward to broadening my tutee base, and meeting new pupils!

I believe that each student is different, and that many educational establishments do not do enough to cater to the individual learning style of each pupil. This is where I come in, to break down difficult topics into manageable chunks tailored to the learning style of each of my pupils. I have many digital tools available including a shared downloadable whiteboard that students will have 24/7 access to. There is an option of practice questions being set after lessons to embed the skills which is included in the price. I have 3 years' experience tutoring privately for GCSE students.
