About Mauna
Hello! My name is Mauna, and I am a current biochemistry PhD student at Georgia Tech. I have gotten my bachelor's degree in biology at Georgia Tech as well. I have tutored for a total of around 3-4 years in both high school and college level biology, chemistry, geometry, and algebra. I have also been an SAT math tutor for a year and a half. I work especially well with students who are struggling to understand concepts, or who have difficulty staying focused in class. Additionally, I have 1.5 years of experience of being a teacher's assistant for both biology and chemistry college classes. I was recommended and selected by my professors for this position. I have taught in every kind of setting from volunteering with students with learning disabilities, in the classroom as a teaching assistant with students, and independently online during COVID lockdown. I currently prefer online tutoring as I do not have time or means for commuting.

I design my lesson plans based around the individual. I like to go over the basics and then dive into the misconceptions that are preventing the student from succeeding in the class. I have experience working with a variety of students, including those with learning disabilities or different learning needs. I work especially well with high school or college students in introductory classes. I love working with those learning new concepts for the first time!
