About Raquel
I have a passion for writing and analyzing literature of all kinds! I love conversing about texts and would be a happy sounding board on which to bounce your ideas off. I got my BA in English with a minor in Creative Writing, which, for me, means that I am heavily interested in essay, fiction, prose, and poetry. This year, for the first time, I published a poem called "When a Wonderer Wanders," in The Underground Literary Magazine, published by the College of Mount St. Vincent in New York. I am excited to continue this creative tract and to assist students with their English language and literature endeavors along the way!

My approach to helping students understand English language and literature is Socratic, led by interpretative analyses and discussion-based dissection of texts. I have faith in the power of patience and malleability and believe that if a student is having trouble understanding the material the first time around, we simply need to adjust aspects of our approach. I also feel that the best way to learn something is to form connection with the self, and so, my approach to teaching language and literature is to show the student how it connects to their personhood. These lessons can be applied to any level of English education, so I am happy to work with students of all grade levels!
