About Charlie
Hello - my name's Charlie and I'm currently an undergraduate studying Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Oxford. The passion I hold for my subjects was first brought to light by engaging and well-structured teaching; it's these qualities, therefore, that I aim to bring to my tutees. As one myself, it's great to interact with fellow students: I can give relevant advice on what has worked for me whilst sympathising with the range of commitments we each hold. Learning is a cognitive process; as such, effective study must be based on the principles which govern it. This forms the basis of my approach to teaching: by aligning study techniques with a scientific understanding of memory, I hope to get the best out of each student. Although their concepts can initially seem difficult to digest, Psychology and Philosophy can be better understood by organising information in ways appealing to the brain. I have long used mind-maps to promote elaborative encoding; however, if other techniques work best for you, then that's how we'll structure your learning. Personalisation is key. Whether preparing for an exam or generally looking to further your learning, my teaching can be tailored to whatever topic you have in mind. My lessons typically take around 1 hour and are best suited for GCSE and A-level students either in-person or online - I can't wait to get started!
