50-Minute English Lesson Plan
Topic: Basic English Conversation
Learning Objective:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to introduce themselves, ask simple questions, and respond using basic English sentences.
1. Warm-Up – 5 minutes
Start the class with a friendly greeting.
Teacher:
“Good morning, everyone! How are you today?”
Students:
“I’m good, thank you. How are you?”
Ask students simple questions:
* What is your name?
* How old are you?
* Where are you from?
* What is your favorite food?
2. Introduction – 10 minutes
Explain that today’s lesson is about introducing yourself in English.
Teach these expressions:
* “My name is ______.”
* “I am ______ years old.”
* “I am from ______.”
* “I live in ______.”
* “My favorite food is ______.”
* “My hobby is ______.”
Give an example:
“Hello! My name is Anna. I am 18 years old. I am from Laguna. I like listening to music. My favorite food is chicken.”
Let the students repeat each sentence.
3. Vocabulary – 10 minutes
Teach important words used when introducing yourself:
Name – what people call you
Age – how old you are
Hobby – an activity you enjoy doing
Favorite – something you like the most
Live – the place where you stay
From – the place where you come from
Give simple examples for each word.
4. Practice – 10 minutes
Ask students to complete these sentences:
1. My name is __________.
2. I am __________ years old.
3. I am from __________.
4. I live in __________.
5. My favorite food is __________.
6. My hobby is __________.
After completing them, students practice saying their answers aloud.
5. Pair Activity – 10 minutes
Put students into pairs.
Student A asks:
“What is your name?”
Student B answers:
“My name is ______.”
Student A asks:
“How old are you?”
Student B answers:
“I am ______ years old.”
Student A asks:
“Where are you from?”
Student B answers:
“I am from ______.”
Then switch roles.
6. Review and Closing – 5 minutes
Review the expressions learned during the lesson.
Ask students:
* How do you introduce yourself?
* How do you ask someone’s name?
* How do you say your age?
* How do you ask where someone is from?
End the lesson by saying:
“Great job today! You learned how to introduce yourself and have a simple conversation in English. Keep practicing English every day!”
