About Charisse
Music from the Queensland Conservatorium shaped my ear for melody and structure, but have you ever wondered how to turn a vague concept into a full song? I have spent 3 years guiding 169 students, ranging from hobbyists to career switchers, through the nuances of lyric writing.
You could be a beginner or an intermediate producer looking to improve your storytelling. My work helps singer-songwriters find clarity in their melodic phrasing and title development. Many students come to me because they struggle with writing over chords or editing finished drafts.
I find the process of refining an initial idea into a polished product deeply satisfying. My background allows me to break down songwriting into manageable stages for everyone I teach. We focus on the craft of writing so you can articulate your ideas effectively. I enjoy seeing students develop a personal voice through consistent practice.

Writing songs is essentially a process of discovery, and I prefer to treat it as a conversation. My BMus degree informs how I teach melody writing and structural editing to beginners and singer-songwriters. You might want to focus on lyric development or simply turning a rough idea into a finished song. We explore these skills during our time together so you gain a repeatable process for future writing.
It works well to keep things practical by having you write in the session. Developing your unique style is easier when you have a structured approach to melody and phrasing. Feel free to reach out if you want to start a new project.
