About Oscar
I am a PhD candidate in English and Literature with a strong background in academic writing and literary analysis. I offer tutoring for students from Years 7–10 as well as VCE English, focusing on building confidence in reading, writing, and essay structure.
My approach emphasizes helping students understand how to think about texts and develop clear, well-supported arguments. I work with students on skills such as essay planning, textual analysis, interpreting assignment prompts, and improving clarity of expression. I also provide detailed feedback on written work to help students strengthen their ideas and develop their writing over time.
Through my academic work and experience providing essay feedback and peer review, I’ve developed a supportive and practical approach that helps students build the skills they need to succeed in English.

I take a student-centred approach to tutoring, focusing on the improvement of each student by encouraging their strengths in addition to working on their areas of improvement. For helping students realise their potential, I believe in helping students to see the ways in which they already shine, not simply focusing on the ways they could be better.
I take each lesson as an opportunity to help students in areas they feel they need it most, offering targeted help in:
- Essay structure and argument development
- Text analysis (themes, symbolism, literary techniques)
- Understanding essay prompts
- VCE English: Text Response, Comparative & Language Analysis
- Speech writing and delivery
- Exam preparation and timed writing
- Improving clarity, vocabulary, and academic expression
- Research and argument structure
In all of these areas, I offer a modeled, resource-driven approach that provides structured examples of successful essay writing, literary analysis, and textual research to help boost students' confidence and ability!
I believe that for good quality learning to take place, collaboration and communication is key. That's why I always aim to keep an open-channel of communication between myself, parents, and teachers to help identify how students perform in all types of learning environments. When it comes to your success as a student, it really does take a village!
