About Irene
Hi, I'm Irene. I am a dedicated high school STEM student with a strong academic focus in science. My coursework includes Honors Biology along with advanced mathematics and science classes, where I have developed strong analytical thinking and scientific reasoning skills. These rigorous courses have strengthened my understanding of biological systems and scientific concepts.
Through these honors level courses, I have built a strong foundation in cell biology, genetics, evolution, and biological processes. My experience studying advanced coursework has helped me develop effective study strategies and the ability to break down complex biological concepts into clear and understandable explanations.
Because I am currently taking advanced STEM classes within the high school curriculum, I am very familiar with the expectations, pacing, and types of topics students encounter in high school biology classes. This allows me to explain concepts in ways that are directly relevant to what students are learning in their classrooms.
I am passionate about helping students succeed academically in biology. My goal is to help students strengthen their understanding of key biological concepts, improve their confidence in science courses, and develop the skills needed to think critically about biological systems. I am eager to share my enthusiasm for biology and science with others.

My goal as a tutor is to help students build confidence while truly understanding the biological concepts behind what they are learning. Rather than simply memorizing definitions or processes, I focus on helping students understand why biological systems work the way they do, because that is how I learn best as well. When students understand the reasoning behind biological processes, they are much better prepared to connect ideas across topics and think critically about new material. My philosophy is that learning biology should be interactive and curiosity driven, so I encourage students to ask questions freely and talk through ideas as we work together.
During lessons, I typically begin by identifying the student’s current understanding and any areas of confusion. From there, I explain concepts step by step using clear explanations, diagrams, and real world examples when helpful. I encourage students to ask questions throughout the lesson, because these questions often reveal important gaps in understanding that we can address together. After introducing the concept, we review practice questions or study strategies so students can apply what they learned with guidance. As students become more comfortable, I gradually encourage them to explain concepts independently while I provide feedback and clarification.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to explain complex biological ideas in a clear and approachable way while creating an environment where students feel comfortable speaking up. As a current high school STEM student, I understand the challenges students face in biology classes and can relate to the pace and expectations of the curriculum. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel confident asking questions, making connections between concepts, and strengthening their scientific reasoning.
My lessons are designed for high school students taking honors or regular level biology courses. I can help with homework support, concept review, test preparation, and strengthening foundational understanding of key topics such as cells, genetics, evolution, and biological systems.
