About Rachel
With years of teaching and tutoring experience, I have had the pleasure of encouraging learners from various backgrounds. My goal as an educator is to provide a quality education to my students in a safe and supportive learning environment. My lessons are designed to be comprehensive, engaging, and educational! Lessons can be adapted to fit the needs of any individual. I have experience teaching ELL's (English Language Learners), SPED (Special Education) students, and AP (Advanced Placement) students. No matter your level of understanding, I can formulate lessons that suit your needs!
Examples of lessons that I can cover include:
Literary comprehension/strategies- how to understand and interpret texts, think critically regarding a text, and utilize their real-world knowledge to understand texts.
Literary analysis- how to recognize and analyze literary devices (tone, mood, irony, metaphors, etc), characters, plot, and theme.
Writing/composition- how to create creative, narrative, analytical, and argumentative writings, find useful sources and evidence, and utilize various writing formats such as MLA, APA, and Chicago.
Grammar- improve sentence structure, vocabulary, and understanding of punctuation marks such as commas, semicolons, quotation marks, etc.
