About Heaven
I am a high school teacher at Southern Guilford High School. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree from Radford University, where I graduated as the Dean’s Scholar of the Mathematics Department. I also graduated top of the Education Program at Radford University, where I learned how to be one of the most impactful educators. One of the many traits that my supervisors said that made me a great student teacher was the connections I was able to make with students. This is a quality I still have and has made a positive impact in my classroom. Making connections with students has boosted student morale and has proven to get more students engaged in class discussions.

Each lesson will be tailored to the needs of the student. I will assess the students knowledge by examining their prior test and quiz scores. From there I will target the student’s weaker areas to help them grasp a better understanding. Each session the student will leave with a greater knowledge in not only math, but a more positive math identity. Each lesson would start with a warm-up based on a prior lesson to see how the student retained the information. From there the student and I would start the bulk of the lesson which would be tailored around the students current math unit or area of focus. I would then end the session with an exit ticket or question to assess the students understanding of the lesson.
