About Irene
Hi, I'm Irene. I am a dedicated high school STEM student with a strong academic focus in mathematics. My coursework includes Honors Algebra I, Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra II, and Honors Precalculus, where I have developed strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. These rigorous classes have strengthened my ability to approach complex mathematical problems logically and understand the deeper concepts behind formulas and procedures.
Through these honors level courses, I have built a strong foundation in algebraic reasoning, geometric thinking, and mathematical problem-solving. My experience working through advanced coursework has also helped me develop effective study strategies, organized problem-solving methods, and the ability to break down difficult math concepts into clear, manageable steps.
Because I am currently taking advanced math classes within the high school curriculum, I am very familiar with the expectations, pacing, and types of problems students encounter in these courses. This allows me to explain concepts in ways that are directly relevant to what students are learning in their classrooms.
I am passionate about helping students succeed academically in mathematics. My goal is to help students strengthen their understanding of core concepts, improve their confidence in challenging math courses, and develop the skills they need to approach problems with clarity and independence. I am eager to share my enthusiasm for mathematics with others!

My goal as a tutor is to help students build confidence while truly understanding the mathematical concepts behind what they are learning. Rather than simply memorizing formulas or procedures, I focus on helping students understand why mathematical methods work, because that is how I learn best as well. When students understand the reasoning behind a concept, they are much better prepared to approach unfamiliar problems and think through challenges independently. My philosophy is that learning mathematics should be interactive and curiosity driven, so I encourage students to ask questions freely and think through problems out loud as we work together.
During lessons, I typically begin by identifying the student’s current understanding and any areas of confusion. From there, I explain the concept step by step using clear examples and logical reasoning. I encourage students to ask questions throughout the lesson, because these questions often reveal important gaps in understanding that we can address together. After introducing the concept, we work through practice problems so students can apply what they learned with guidance. As students become more comfortable, I gradually allow them to solve problems independently while I provide feedback and strategies for improvement.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to explain complex mathematical ideas in a simple and approachable way while creating an environment where students feel comfortable speaking up. As a current high school STEM student, I understand the challenges students face in math classes and can relate to the pace and expectations of the curriculum. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel confident asking questions, exploring different problem solving approaches, and strengthening their mathematical reasoning.
My lessons are designed for high school students taking honors or regular level math courses, including Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. I can help with homework support, concept review, test preparation, and strengthening foundational problem solving skills needed to succeed in mathematics.
