About Sahasra
Hi! I’m Sahasra, a high school student who tutors elementary and middle school math, including Algebra 1. My goal is to make math easier to understand, less stressful, and help students feel confident in their skills. I’m patient and customize lessons based on what each student is learning in school.
During sessions, students are encouraged to ask as many questions as they can, as we work step-by-step through concepts and build confidence in math.
I have experience working at Mathnasium, where I helped students of different ages and skill levels build strong math foundations.

My Approach as a Tutor
As a high school student, I understand how fast math can move and how confusing certain concepts can feel the first time you see them. My goal is to help students stay ahead and have the right practice before quizzes and tests. I adapt my sessions based on each student’s pace and school curriculum.
Teaching Method & Techniques
I start by reviewing the student’s current unit and then move slightly ahead of their class schedule. This gives them early exposure to new concepts so that when those topics come up in school, they already feel familiar and manageable. I explain each new idea step-by-step, use multiple examples, and check for understanding before moving forward.
I also collect quiz dates and test dates before each new unit so I can plan lessons that prepare students well in advance.
During the last 15-20 minutes of every session, I leave time for student questions, homework help, or quick reviews to make sure they truly understood the lesson. By the end of each session, I provide new practice problems they can revisit and use at their own convenience.

What Sets Me Apart
What makes me different is my “learn ahead” approach — I don’t just react to whatever the teacher assigns that week. Instead, I plan proactively using the student’s school schedule, so they go into class already ready for the material. Students also feel more comfortable asking questions since I’m a peer who has recently learned and succeeded in the same course.
