I know that learning has the potential to be difficult for anyone. Starting something new can be scary or frustrating, especially if whatever it is does not come easily at first. For a lot of people, that is reading and writing. It's just something that a lot of people need to work on. I am of the opinion that everyone on earth is a reader, they just haven't found the right book yet. I can help you find it! I can help you break down an essay into parts so it isn't so overwhelming. I can help you figure out how to have the best chance at doing well in the English section of your SAT! I can help you understand how something matters, even if it doesn't seem like it initially. You have a voice. I can help you find it.

I have been a high school teacher for 13 years. I have taught English Language Arts to grades 9-12, SAT Prep, and AP Language and Composition. I seek to build relationships with my students and find texts to read that are relevant to their lives, interests, and the world today. I have taught students with all sorts of learning styles and disabilities. The vast majority of my students read below grade level, so I am used to helping students bridge the gap with comprehension. In terms of how I tutor, I spend time getting to know individual students, work through shorter texts and analyses in-lesson, and then assign readings to bring to next session. If there are more individualized needs, or specific assignments/tests to prepare for, I will cater to those with enthusiasm and integrity as well!
