About Rebecca
I have always loved working with young people, and have spent my whole career doing so! I started teaching full time in my mid twenties, having worked in outdoor education before this. I work part time in a busy and successful comprehensive school in the south west, and thoroughly enjoy my tutoring work alongside this. A personalised approach makes all the difference, and it is a privilege to be able to help students achieve their targets and help them on their way to their future!

No two students learn in exactly the same way… my approach as a tutor is always to discover what method works best for each individual and run with it! I have been tutoring 1:1 for the last five years, alongside teaching in a secondary school - I have been a classroom teacher for 20 years. The most rewarding aspect of tutoring is seeing confidence and belief grow in students. The huge benefit of tutoring is that students have uninterrupted and personal support with the areas they need most. I am highly experienced in teaching a variety of GCSE and A-Level exam boards, and have been an exam marker for several boards. A typical lesson might cover some brief content to ensure confidence with the material, and then focus on developing exam technique, giving students a deeper understanding of what examiners are looking for and how to access the top grades. All lessons, however, are adapted and tailored to the individual needs of each student. My 1:1 students have an average grade improvement of 2.4 grades, and there is no better feeling than hearing from them on results day! I am calm, patient and knowledgeable, and take the time to really understand what will work best for each student.
