About Pauline
Previous teaching experience
Most recently, I taught professional English to graduate and post-graduate students at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. These students were completing majors from a wide range of faculties e.g. Accountancy, Economics, Law, Marketing. As a trainer, this experience was invaluable, both on an educational level and on a cultural level. I was extremely impressed by the work ethic and very respectful attitude of my students.
Whilst living in Shanghai, I offered private lessons to professional people who needed to improve their English for work. As I was in Shanghai, the professional people were from all over the world: China, Japan, Brazil, France etc. This experience was an invaluable experience as a teacher.
I piloted a business English online learning platform working from the UK. I was teaching Spanish business people who were working for international companies.
At Siegen University in Germany, I created lessons for spoken and written English skills aimed at Business and Engineering students.
I completed an MA in TESOL in 2013 which enabled me to refresh my knowledge of the latest trends in English teaching and to understand how the area of English language teaching has been developing worldwide.
English is my native language.
I speak French (B2) and German (C2).

My Clientele
Generally, I teach professional people who wish to improve their spoken and written English, both general and profession specific.
I have also taught spoken and written English to university students in China and Germany who wish to improve their chances of finding work with an international company.
My Teaching Approach
My teaching demeanour is friendly and approachable because I believe the more relaxed my student is, the more they will be able to absorb and consolidate the language. Also, it allows my student to freely express themselves so that we can get to know each other more quickly and so that we can identify and deal with any language areas which need work.
I teach students from intermediate level (B2) to proficiency level (C2).
As a tutor, I base my lesson structure and content on the needs and learning preferences of the learner. This is the most important consideration, in my opinion, as the student needs will determine the content of the lesson and the student learning preferences will determine the teaching methodology which I use and the learning strategies which I will be proposing for each individual student.
