About Tim
My name is Tim and I am a very experienced university lecturer in sociology now working part time who has tutored at all levels from A level to PhD for many years. For example, prior to the pandemic, I managed to get one student from ungraded to B grade on her Sociology A level. I can cover many aspects of social science more widely as well as English literature. Specialist areas have included media and cultural studies, consumer culture and identities. My teaching style is friendly and approachable and, in the first instance, we will work out a plan of action together having tried to identify your needs. I do not "lecture" students - I like to work around activities to get your skills level up to deal with coursework or exams. For example, you may struggle with revision technique or how to provide critical evaluation of theories so we would work on that, or whatever else you need, through guidance and practice. I am familiar with relevant A level curricula such as AQA and Eduqas but we will focus on those areas that you feel you need help on most. I can provide tuition and contact through means to suit you. I am easy going yet direct and structured in my approach. I offer free taster sessions and you can also book blocks in advance or one session at a time. I will respond quickly to phone message or email in working hours.
