About John
I have a degree in History, a 2.1 from Leeds University, with 26 years of school teaching in both state and private sectors, including as a Head of Department for 20 years. I have a PGCE, a diploma in School Management and a teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate. I have also tutored privately with great success; some of my private students achieved 100% in the modules I tutored them for. I also have a qualification to teach sport. I am an excellent communicator and motivator, especially of less confident students.

My teaching methodology, in both classroom and one to one contexts, is to involve students as much as possible in their own learning and to guide them in the best direction to achieve their goals. I am very keen on getting students to take responsibility for their learning, as I believe this is the key factor in attainment at every level.
