About Lakshmi
I am a dedicated Hindi teacher, looking to make learning Hindi more comprehensive, interactive and enjoyable.
I have 15+ years of experience and have recently taught Hindi to US students returning to India. There, I devised challenging exercises that were also fun. The students found them very helpful and intuitive, and in the process, I also have evolved as an efficient teacher.
Teaching and interacting with them gives me joy. I like appreciating students for their little joys and achievements. Children feel more motivated that way too. I am always striving to go beyond the confines of a school syllabus by referring to the vast Hindi literature, its history and references from multiple other languages, making it more cohesive.
Languages are identity and experiences, not just an expression. And I want to make this complex process worthwhile and enjoyable!

The first class, also called a demo class, is free. In this, I try to assess the student by giving them basic, beginner's tests to see how much they know. I will teach a small concept, and see how comfortable the student is.
In regular classes, I'll converse about day-to-day life with the students, in conversational Hindi, to improve their Hindi speaking.
-I come up with unconventional Hindi exercises for the smallest of concepts and consistently make them interactive. Such instances help keep the classes interesting and the children proactive.
- I regularly ask for the child's syllabus from the school's end of things, so that the student is not falling back on the school's Hindi readings.
- I show them videos of small and easy-to-understand Hindi stories after a considerable amount of time to see how comfortable and able they are in understanding Hindi.
-To start with, I start by teaching them basic vocabulary--two-letter and three-letter words without maatras.
I like teaching students studying from 2nd grade to 10th grade, CBSE and ICSE alike. Classes are more serene in the evenings.
