About Anurag
I am a professionally trained vocalist with a strong foundation in Hindustani classical music, having completed my Graduation in Hindustani Classical Vocal along with a strong hold in western vocal techniques.
I have been associated with T-series Stageworks Academy, Noida and pursued Diploma in Advanced Singing Course as well. Also, I am presently pursuing a Masters degree in Hindustani classical vocal. Alongside classical training, I actively perform and teach light music, ghazals, bhajans, and old classic Bollywood repertoire, helping students connect technique with musical expression.
My musical journey includes studio recording experience and performances on prestigious national television platforms such as Indian Idol and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. These experiences have shaped my understanding of both traditional training and real-world performance standards, which I bring into my teaching.
As a teacher, I value discipline, consistency, and a structured learning process, while maintaining a friendly and encouraging classroom atmosphere. I believe every student learns at a different pace, and I take care to adapt my methods to suit individual goals, whether someone is learning for personal enjoyment, performance, or serious musical growth.
I am committed to punctuality, professionalism, and clear communication, and I place great importance on helping students build confidence, musical clarity, and a genuine love for singing. My Teaching Approach and Methodology
My approach as a teacher is rooted in strong classical fundamentals, practical application, and nurturing each student’s individual musical voice. I aim to create a supportive yet disciplined learning environment that encourages both technical growth and emotional expression.
Teaching Techniques and Methods
I focus on building a solid foundation in sur, taal, voice culture, and riyaz techniques, tailored to the student’s level and goals. For Hindustani classical students, this includes structured practice of swaras, alankars, bandishes, and basic improvisation. For light music, ghazals, bhajans, and old Bollywood songs, I emphasize melody, phrasing, pronunciation, emotion, and stylistic authenticity. My teaching blends traditional methods with insights gained from studio recording and live performance experience in various reality shows such as Indian Idol and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
Usual Structure of a Class
A typical class begins with voice warm-ups and breathing exercises, followed by focused technical practice. The core part of the session is dedicated to repertoire building—whether classical compositions or light music pieces—along with guidance on expression and presentation. Each class concludes with feedback, revision, and clear practice goals for the student to work on independently.
