About GUSTAVO
My name is Gustavo Saavedra and I am currently enrolled at Cal State Northridge pursuing my History degree with a single subject teaching credential hoping to teach U.S history at the high school level full time. I took and passed Ap courses such as Apush, Aphg, Apgov, and Apworld. So students can come to me with questions to better understand the AP format when it comes to Social Sciences.

My teaching methods consist of helping the student better analyze text and understand a broader timeline of U.S History and how to make connections through time to help better understand a topic
A typical Lesson plan starts with a general question on the topic to gauge the grasp of the students knowledge to help better prepare them. Then analyzing a text from a specific time period with the student to help give the student a more clear understanding on the Historical Context, audience, purpose, and point of view of the text.
Then teaching a passage of time or event in a broader context, such as the American Revolution, The Civil War, The signing of the Decleration of Independence, etc. As well how to connect these events to other parts in history.
These lessons are for any and everybody, whether your a new student worried about the new year or a student worried about a test or even just needs a little help consistently throughout the year. Learning in a big classroom can be very challenging for students which is why I like to specialize in one on one activities with students and smaller groups consisting of 5-10 students as well.
