About Ilya
My name is Ilya, and I bring a strong academic foundation and a proven teaching record to every lesson. I graduated Cum Laude with Dean’s Honors in History, and I earned 5s in AP U.S. History, AP U.S. Government, and AP Human Geography. These achievements reflect both my mastery of the material and my understanding of the structure, expectations, and strategies behind AP-level success. Over the years, I have continuously taught and tutored students in high school and college, helping them improve their grades, strengthen their historical thinking, and feel confident going into exams. As a tutor, I focus on clarity, structure, and individualized learning. I break complex historical concepts into simple, memorable narratives and use exam-based strategies to help students understand not only what happened, but why it matters, and how the AP exam expects them to write about it. My sessions emphasize active learning through guided questions, primary-source interpretation, essay planning, and targeted review of weak areas.

I’ve learned how to quickly identify each student’s learning style, and I build a personalized approach that fits their needs: whether they learn best through stories, charts, timelines, or practice prompts.
