About Alyssa
I graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2020 from Saint Mary's University with an Honours Biology degree. During this time, I independently researched a fish physiology topic and wrote my own thesis on the topic. I graduated from Trent University in 2021 with a Master's degree (in Bioenvironmental Monitoring and Assessment) and have worked a variety of jobs that directly involve biology or are closely associated.
I am familiar with the struggles of education. Having been a high school, university and graduate (Master's) level student myself, I have picked up many helpful tips and tricks along my journey. I hope I can find a way to help you not only learn the content but to also enjoy your biology courses.

As a tutor I look to assist the student based on their learning styles; adjusting my approach depending on learning style (i.e., hands-on approach, visual learner etc.). I am personally fond of memorization techniques for learning subject matter and aim to give the students tools to excel beyond the specific subject I am tutoring in. In a typical session, I would recap what was discussed, ask for questions on past material, cover the new topic and close with asking what they next will be covering in class (to design the material for the next session) while assisting
I can be available for a larger timeframe (such as a semester) or for a specific unit that students are struggling to comprehend.
