About Garrett

I have been playing cello since I was 10, and every year I have gained more varied experiences in performing. Playing cello has taken me to very exciting places away from home, such as Europe and New York, and I have also gained a great deal more understanding of myself and what fulfills me. Music has become a way of life through which I can always seek self-improvement, and feel that I am tapping into something larger than myself. No matter how long they play, I hope all cello students can experience this sense of purpose and appreciation as well.

About the lesson

In my lessons I aim to discover what the student enjoys most and is strongest at in their playing, and encourage that first. All students will get an in-depth idea of fundamental techniques and concepts, while setting goals to reach the music they want to play and understand most. My ultimate goal for every student is to gain a deep appreciation and sense of joy in playing the cello!

I've played for Garrett many times in preparation for my auditions for music schools. He helped so much, and I had a great reception and results from all of my audition panels - I have Garrett to thank for that! He is a very calm and encouraging teacher and is incredibly knowledgeable about the cello. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a teacher!
