I am currently doing my RBT course (Registered behavior Technician course) as well as doing other Applied Behavior Analysis Course ( a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior, often used to support children with autism).

I help children who struggle with reading and spelling.
I explain calmly when a child does not understand something and use detail to explain or to demonstrate the explanation of a word so that the meaning is clear to the child.
Example would be the child does not lets say understand the word valley so i will use a picture of a valley and explain to the child that a valley looks like this picture and i would explain the meaning.
And i do the same when it comes to spelling as well.
Lets say the child cant spell for example the word bear then i will take a picture of a bear (even though the child does know how a bear looks like, and show the picture of the bear to the child and then spell the letters of the word out loud to the child.
The child would then say it out loud after me and while saying the letters write it. So what basically happens is when the child see the picture of the bear while doing the spelling the child will remember the spelling of the word better because he will see the letters that spells the word bear with the picture.
