About Varsha
My passion for education ignited early at just 18 years old, I began teaching Bharatanatyam dance to students ranging from age 4 to 13. Working with over 60 students taught me a fundamental lesson. Effective teaching requires understanding how each individual learns and adapting my approach accordingly. This philosophy carried into my academic career. As a K-12 tutor, I consistently transformed struggling students into high performers, elevating GPAs from below average to above average by identifying their unique learning barriers and creating tailored strategies to overcome them. During my Master's program, I expanded my teaching into research, mentoring students in my lab on genetic therapy for neurodegenerative diseases. As a Teaching Assistant, I independently led biology lab courses for up to 72 students, guiding them through advanced molecular techniques and helping them develop critical thinking skills essential for scientific inquiry. My commitment to education was recognized with the Edwards-Yeckel Award for Learning and Communicating Science scholarship at UCSD which reinforced what I've always believed: empowering others through knowledge is as impactful as any discovery made in the lab.

My teaching methodology is personalized to each student's unique learning style and needs. I believe that effective tutoring starts with understanding not just what a student needs to learn, but how they learn best. We begin with a trial session where I focus on establishing rapport and creating a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions. During this trial class, I also identify the student's specific needs: whether they require help with conceptual understanding to apply knowledge to homework and projects, active recall and exam preparation strategies, or comprehensive academic support across multiple areas. Based on the trial session, I develop a tailored approach that adapts to how each student responds best, whether through visual aids, hands-on problem-solving, repetition and practice, or conceptual discussions. Students provide their learning materials such as textbooks, lesson plans from teachers or professors, or course syllabi so that my instruction directly aligns with their curriculum and classroom expectations, ensuring seamless integration and academic success.
I highly value feedback from both students and parents throughout our learning journey together. My goal is to continuously grow as an educator so that I can best serve your unique learning needs.
