About Anne

Hello! I am a dedicated Grade 12 Honors student based in Ottawa. I understand that high school math and science can seem incredibly difficult, especially when several new subjects are being introduced at once. When you are sitting in a crowded classroom, it is easy to feel left behind by fast-paced lessons. My goal is to take away that anxiety and help you truly master your coursework by finding study habits that work for you!

As an Honors student, I have maintained a 95% average throughout high school while balancing heavy subjects like math, biology, and chemistry. Although I earn top marks, I also have procrastinated a lot throughout the years and tried out study methods that don't work for me. My main goal is ensuring that my lesson plans are tailored to your preference, while making studying an engaging activity as well. Because I am currently navigating the exact same Ontario curriculum, I know what teachers expect on unit tests and final exams. I am a very patient person, so ask as many questions as you need! I know what it feels like to struggle with a confusing concept and when everyone around you seems to understand it immediately, it can be pretty discouraging. We will focus on one thing at a time until it becomes comfortable to recite. I look forward to helping you build your confidence, organize your study schedule, and achieve the grades you are capable of!

My teaching method relies on peer-to-peer connection and active learning to make sure sessions are engaging. I focus on making complex subjects into simplified analogies so that students actually understand instead of just memorizing. A typical lesson plan would include a brief review on core concepts followed by learning a new topic broken down into simple steps. Finally, the session will end with practice questions, creating quick notes and flashcards, and setting goals for the next session. Since I am currently a high school senior, I am familiar with the current high school system and how tests are structured, which will help my students succeed in their classes. I have experimented with different study habits and experienced the consequences of not being consistent, so I am motivated in helping others find study methods that work for them. As my lessons are tailored to grades 9 to 11, I will be able to connect with the same teenager perspective and provide them with the shortcuts needed to get good grades. The subjects I will be teaching are math/functions, chemistry, and biology for students struggling to grasp concepts, need help before a test, or who want support in creating a proper study schedule.
