About Helena
I am a Travel and Tourism graduate from the Externado University in Bogotá, Colombia where I specialised in Marketing Management. I have over 10 years of experience working as a Sales Manager for a number of luxury hotel chains like Karisma and Hyatt. I relocated to England from Colombia in January 2020 with my husband and have since dedicated myself to teaching Spanish which I have found to be very rewarding. No matter your motivation to learn, whether it's to prepare for an exam, for business purposes, or a trip to Latin America I will help you achieve your goal for the Spanish language! Everybody who wants to learn Spanish has a different motivation, starting point, and objective for the level they want to achieve and I work to ensure that you meet your goals in the desired timeframe. Some common goals include: Conversational and Business Spanish Pronunciation Verbs – Regular and Irregular Vocabulary A little about me! I love animals and living in the countryside and am proud to be the human of my lovely dog “Chiquita” who we adopted from Chile! I enjoy eating out and dancing salsa and really miss the nightlife in Bogotá which is so diverse and vibrant. I also love my mother tongue and love to teach it. I am organised and committed and support my students on their Spanish journey. Look forward to hearing from you.

How do my classes work? We kick off with an assessment whereby I understand a little about your needs and goals, any timeframes, current Spanish level, and learning preferences or style. I then create a detailed learning plan for you based on your needs and preferences and we start to work towards your goals! Typically students have the following needs: 1. Pronunciation, the pronunciation of accents and accents in words 2. Verb conjugation 3. Informal and formal pronouns 4. Vocabulary for common situations 5. Conversational practice My priority is that students feel calm speaking Spanish and have the fluency to communicate in day-to-day situations

Perfect! my daughter has been having classes with Helena for a couple of months now, and her confidence speaking spanish at home has increased so much, she practices all the time and feels really excited each lesson to learn more!
Perfect! Helena is very friendly and a brilliant teacher. She understood what I wanted to focus on and helped me to gain confidence in my Spanish speaking. She was interested in my travels and gave me lots of tips for visiting South America (thank you!). She was a real pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend her to anyone learning Spanish!
Perfect! Very engaging
Perfect! Helena is very patient with me and the time it takes me to form sentences. My level of Spanish understanding is quite high so she talks to me in Spanish for the duration of the lesson. Sometimes this can be hard and confusing but it helps me get comfortable with hearing Spanish in use. She’s very friendly and takes an interest in you. I’ve been learning with Helena for a few months now and I’m looking forward to more!

I have been working with Helena for 18 months and
I can wholeheartedly recommend Helena as a Spanish tutor. She is patient and supportive, but also comes up with imaginative activities to suit my interests.
