About Julie
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read a little about me!
My academic background includes a TEFL certification, a B.A. and an M.Sc in Environmental Science and International Relations, as well as a GRI Sustainability Professional certification.
I bring over 15 years of teaching experience, including 10 years in classrooms in Istanbul, working with diverse learners across both academic and professional contexts.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy being outdoors with my dog. We enjoy camping, paddleboarding, and summer road trips together quite often. In the winter, I transform into a snowbird and spend my time on the mountain skiing.

Our lessons together are built around your specific academic or professional needs. I like to structure our time together with a results-driven approach that focuses on measurable improvements rather than general practice. My goal is for you to leave with higher test scores, stronger writing, and clearer communication through high-impact corrections so you can target weaknesses quickly and apply corrections independently.
*Lesson Structure*
Although every lesson varies based on goals, each will follow a general flow:
- Review writing/homework and answer questions (5-15 min)
- Skill Development (20-40 min)
+ Test Prep lessons will include real exam materials and scoring criteria with speaking drills, writing tasks, and practice test sections.
+ Academic Writing lessons will include support for APA/MLA frameworks, argument development, cohesiveness and clarity, and structure.
+ Proofreading and Editing lessons will include real-time, line-by-line editing support with detailed explanations and references for future writing.
- Feedback and Action Plan (5-15 min)
