About Zhangqu
I am a graduate of Imperial College London with a MSci in Mathematics and a successful International Baccalaureate Graduate specialising in Mathematics and Physics. Currently, I am working in a boutique strategy consulting firm.
In 2019, I achieved 41 points in total with 7 in HL Mathematics, 7 in HL Further Mathematics (achieved by 200 people globally) and A in Mathematics Extended Essay. In 2017, I achieved 10 A*s, 1A^ (A* with distinction) and 1A in my GCSEs.
I am a specialist tutor in mathematics of all levels as well as being able to give university application advice and personal statement writing guidance. Currently, I am open to taking on students for both short term and long term tuition along with my returning students.

I am an encouraging and ambitious tutor looking to get the best out of my students. My teaching style is typically more problem solving based which I have found the most effective for subjects like maths and leads to great results. Generally a session would begin with some outlines of the theory and revision of the main methods and then working through problems which grow in difficulty. I prefer to focus on well structured methodology for each question, which ensures that the student is able to answer all types of questions with ease.
'Mathematics is not a spectator sports' - This is the core of my teaching style; I believe that you cannot learn maths just by watching someone else do it, but instead you have to get hands on! My lessons are 70% practise question based, whether that be basic exercises to ensure you have grasped the concepts or past exam questions where application is key! However, I am also happy to tailor my approach to my students and help them to succeed in any way possible. This allows the students to fully understand the problems and master the content required for the exams as well as develop their problem solving skills.
