About Shourya
I'm an incoming UCL Economics undergraduate with a strong academic track record, I achieved 9 grade 9s at GCSE, including 98% in GCSE Maths, while studying at a top grammar school. I've since gone on to build two years of one-to-one tutoring experience at school, helping fellow students strengthen their understanding and improve their grades.
I know firsthand what it takes to succeed at GCSE, and I'm passionate about helping students get there too. I pride myself on being approachable, friendly, and understanding, lessons with me are relaxed and pressure-free, so students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes along the way. My goal is to make every student feel confident, supported, and genuinely excited about the subjects they're studying.

I believe true understanding comes from mastering content first, then stress-testing it with tricky, exam-style questions. My lessons follow a simple structure: I start by checking how solid the foundations are in a topic, filling any gaps before moving on. Once the core content is secure, I shift to question-based practice: working through past paper questions, tricky multi-step problems, and common exam traps that catch students out. This helps build both confidence and exam technique, not just theoretical knowledge.
I tailor sessions to each student: if a topic is already strong, we spend less time on theory and more time on challenging application questions; if it's shaky, we slow down and rebuild it from the basics. Lessons typically run 60 minutes, with a mix of explanation, guided practice, and independent problem-solving, plus regular review of past mistakes to make sure they don't recur.
I tutor GCSE students in Maths, Physics, and Economics, and I'm happy to work with students aiming for top grades who want extra challenge, as well as those needing to build confidence from a weaker base.
