About Holly

I am a very experienced tutor based in Central London. My enthusiasm and vibrant lessons make me an ideal choice for younger children wanting to excel in school. I specialise in the 4+ and the 11+ entrance exam, GCSE and am passionate about improving children's English skills. I also teach pupils of all ages across the globe to improve their English skills.

I have over 15 years experience teaching within schools. I began as a private violin tutor at the age of 16, and worked within schools running workshops in Drama whilst at university. After graduating, I worked full time in schools across London gaining knowledge in many different systems and approaches and have taught in subjects across the field; including English, Maths, Drama and Music. My experience in Drama makes me a very effective communicator, especially with younger children wanting an exciting lesson to keep them focussed and active.

I like to engage children through fun and vibrant lessons. I tailor my lessons according to my pupils and customise games to make lessons more exciting. I like children to enjoy my lessons (almost as if the learning is disguised!) and use visual guides and physical props to help children access the learning. At first I use practise papers as diagnostics and then delve into particular topics that are in need of improvement. My lessons improve pupils' self confidence and self esteem. I also have many years experience in working with SEN pupils- I am very familiar with different systems and approaches to help aid every child in their needs.

Over the past year alone, my pupils have made huge improvements. My GCSE students have scored level 9s, my 11+ students are all in highly academic skills with scholarship offers, and my younger pupils are thriving and are always at the top of their class. A previous pupil (3 years old) who had little to no English, is now one of the chattiest pupils at Garden House School in Sloane Square. I have experience and pupils in St Paul's boys and girls, Westminster, Kingston Grammar, Tiffin, Alleyn's, Dulwich, Whitgift to name but a few.

I have a valid DBS and many references.
