About Ciara
Hi everyone! My name is Ciara, and I hold a 2:1 Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. Biology was my favorite subject for the Leaving Cert, where I achieved a H1. But it wasn’t always like that—during the Junior Cert, I really struggled with science and was getting poor grades. It didn’t come naturally to me at first, so I completely understand how overwhelming Biology can seem without the right support. Now, Biology is a subject I genuinely enjoy, and I believe that any student can succeed with the right approach. My teaching style is all about keeping things simple and clear. I find that students often feel like their teachers forget what it’s like to be learning these concepts for the first time. Foundational knowledge is key before you can tackle the trickier topics, so for me, there’s no such thing as a silly question! In my own experience, the topics I found hardest were often down to one small thing I didn’t fully understand. Once I asked for help or looked into it myself, everything clicked into place. That’s why I’m here to guide you through any topics you find confusing.

For our sessions, I’ll create PowerPoint presentations tailored to whatever topics you’d like to cover. These will be sent to you in advance so you can have a look yourself if you like. You can let me know in advance if there’s something specific you’re struggling with. After we go through the topic, we’ll practice exam questions together—because I truly believe attempting questions, even if you get them wrong at first, is the best way to secure those high grades.
