About Mabel
I trained as an IT tech but for nearly 10 years my passion has been travel consulting, in my native Cuba as well as the U.S. and Italy. I love helping clients navigate places new to them, where life is a bit different than home, especially my homeland, “the Pearl of the Caribbean.” Along with this work, I have taught Spanish to many wonderful students, and I still love learning languages as much as teaching — broadening horizons and perspectives and having fun doing it!

My teaching method in each topic is direct instruction, appearing personally before the class/student (or computer), and presenting the lesson. I foster a good back-and-forth, with active participation and dialogue involving demonstration, recitation, reading, storytelling, Q&A, and more. I like to include news and culture to connect textbook instruction to daily life and bring this beautiful language alive for my students.
