About Alexis
I have been studying and refining my craft in music for over 20 years, having learnt Piano, Guitar, Flute and Alto Saxophone before the completion of Year 12. After completing Music 2 in the HSC, I went on to commence my tertiary studies at The Conservatorium of Music in Sydney, majoring in classical guitar. After completing my Bachelor of Music Studies, I commenced my studies in a Bachelor of Music Production and Composition at The Australian Institute of Music in Surry Hills, which I am currently progressing through.
I began professional music tutoring at Forte Music in Dee Why in 2011, where I was teaching students of all age groups and proficiency levels in various instruments such as guitar, piano and bass guitar to name a few. After 5 years of work at Forte, I started working at Institute of Popular Music in Narrabeen, where I still work today, teaching over 20 students per week in the art of playing guitar, bass, piano, sax, drums and ukulele.
During my tutoring career, I have also had the opportunity to work as a music producer and audio engineer at various studios such as Ryde Recording Studio and MusicPro Australia.
Unlike most tutors I have interacted with, my key approach to tutoring any student is to make sure that they are having fun. Progress and improvement is always a given key objective, but sometime the fun in just learning and playing an instrument can be lost. I wish to provide all my students with professional and fun lessons that keep them attached to learning the instrument outside of lessons and taking initiative to go further with refining their craft.

At the same time, I have successfully taken students through grading systems such as AMEB and Rockschool with exemplary marks and worked through goals such as preparation for performances and scholarship applications.
