  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I have been in Education, teaching multiple subject such as Maths, Computer Science, Business Studies, Cryptocurrency etc for almost ten years. During this period, I further developed my interest in private tutoring as I was extremely passionate about changing student's lives for the better as I wanted to make a difference for them. I love sharing my knowledge and my passion for the subjects which I have been teaching for a very long time and this definitely comes across when I deliver my sessions and tailor them to each individual.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I have been very fortunate that my teaching career has led me to develop my subject knowledge in a variety of subjects including Computer Science, Business Studies, Cryptocurrency and Mathematics. In all of these subjects, there are many topics which can be daunting for any student but due to my passion and ability to make the knowledge accessible, this is the challenge that I look forward to as I want to help pupils build their prior knowledge and close any gaps in knowledge no matter how hard the subject is. Computer Science is naturally a very difficult subject to learn as it involves learning programming concepts but this is where I know that my expertise will be able to help a student to have love and curiosity for the subjects I like to teach.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

I always looked up to my teachers in Primary and Secondary schools as there was always something I can take from them in terms of guidance. To this day, I always appreciate all of Teachers who believed in me and appreciated my honesty when I was struggling as a student. One of my teachers that I think back to was my Health and Social Care teacher who always had exceptional standards and expectations of me to produce high standards of work and carry myself in the classroom as a good role model even through my Sixth Form days. I am really grateful to my Teachers and due to this, I always feel like that I have a moral responsibility to give that time and effort back to students as to me, teaching is a personal gratification for me as I like to see students succeeding no matter how big the gaps in knowledge are.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

To become a good tutor, there are a lot of good qualities needed to stand out so that students can trust you and have faith that you will come through with them on the other side. One of the qualities required to becoming a good tutor is to have a lot of patience with the student even when you have tried different approaches to helping a student learn a difficult concept and still a student has not embedded that knowledge. I feel like this is powerful as a student then realises that you will not leave them on their own when they can overcome a major hurdle in their subject knowledge and understanding. Another quality required to becoming a good tutor is to have excellent subject knowledge and using this knowledge with pedagogy to deliver it to a pupil who can understand what you are saying and in turn make progress. This is why it is important for a tutor to know their pupils well and know immediately what their shortcomings are.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I always struggled with Mathematics in school but now I am one of the most passionate educators who loves to teach Mathematics. I know that Mathematics can seem a bit dry at times when pupils do not see the fascination in the subject however what it made me realise as a student is that it opened doors for me in Education and this boils down to excelling in your core subject such as Mathematics. Thankfully I had a very good teacher who was understanding and quickly picked up on my misconceptions in Mathematics which in the end made me realise that I can do it when I put my mind and effort to it.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

My difficulties I constantly face is ensuring that my subject knowledge and my ability to teach is upheld at a high standard all of the time, which means that whenever there are changes with the specification, I immediately push myself to familiarise any subject content which I may be unfamiliar with. This is extremely important as students are relying on me to provide accurate information and for this to happen, I must make sure that I have all of the tools necessary to allow a student to make progress.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My passion is to solely share my subject knowledge and inspire pupils to have a love and curiosity for the subjects that I love. I have continued to develop myself in the teaching profession constantly and tutoring is one of the ways how I have gained further passion in as I have witnessed the amount of impact I can make to a person's life through SuperProf.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

What makes me a SuperProf is that I am genuinely an ambassador in Education who is always trying to share his passion and love for the subjects. I feel like I am a SuperProf because I have a high level of determination to wanting students to succeed and be the best that they can be which is all I want in the end.
