About Serah
Hi! I'm Serah.
I specialise in tutoring for stage Japanese year 11 and 12 ATAR (I am especially familiar with SACE and WACE curriculums) and lower school Japanese tutoring for years 7 to 10. I am also happy to tutor beginners of all ages who would like to pick up conversational Japanese quickly and efficiently.
I can do tutoring session any day of the week, at any time working around my university schedule. I am also happy to reply to questions outside of tutoring sessions throughout the week.
I have learnt Japanese throughout primary school and high school to a very high level and can help with listening, reading and writing. I am happy to do lesson plans, check work or even just answer questions.
Qualifications
I graduated from high school in 2020, with an ATAR of 97.25 (WA). My top subject was Japanese second language ATAR (which correlates to Japanese Continuers ATAR in SACE). I was sent a letter by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority WA asking for permission to use the written component of my exam in the following year's good answers textbook.
I have also completed up to N3 of the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) qualification.
Tutoring Experience
I have privately tutored year 7 to 10 Japanese to many different students. I have also tutored year 12 IB student in ab initio Japanese standard level.
I am currently studying a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Bioscience (to DVM) at the university of Adelaide. However, I really enjoyed learning Japanese so I would love to continue engaging with the language in my daily life.

I think the best way to learn something is by having fun learning it. Japanese is a very rule and formula based language, which unlike English has little to no exceptions to its rules. Grammar can easily be grasped by simply following these rules, vocabulary is naturally memorised as you use it in your language and writing (especially kanji) is perfected through practice. For ATAR students I can make lesson plans in accordance with what is being taught in school, or even to get ahead of school.
