About Ellis
My name is Ellis.
I have been studying around English and writing for almost my entire life. Up until the age of 23 I was in University, studying English and Journalism. Then, almost as soon as I graduated I went straight back to a secondary school to be a teacher!
I have a passion for writing and reading that I love to be able to pass on to other people. I hope that there are students out there who would benefit from my knowledge and my outlook on the world of literature and language.
A one-on-one tutor session is a perfect opportunity to take a slower and calmer approach to learning, which is ideal if you are not entirely confident in a topic. As long as you are willing to work hard in our sessions, then I will work my very hardest to help you!

I have experience teaching all secondary year groups, from Year 7 to 11.
During my three years as a secondary teacher, I have worked to convey to students the key concepts and themes related to various novels, poems and language texts.
I can help students to identify and analyse language techniques in a text, using the correct academic language needed to impress an examiner.
I have taught a wide range of texts, and I am open to researching/reading new texts if needed.
I am comfortable with marking exam papers of GCSE standard, and marking them for improvement.
I am currently looking to teach hour long lessons, but I am also willing to vary this slightly.
