About Ivy
Beginning my formal training at 8 years old remains a quiet memory, though my first public recital at 14 truly shaped my artistic identity. Having earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from The Juilliard School, I have spent 13 years guiding students through the rigors of musical development. My Russian-school lineage informs how I approach foundational elements like posture, hand position, and the essential weight of the arm.
You will find that I emphasize ear training alongside complex memorization techniques, scales, and arpeggios to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the instrument. I find great satisfaction in helping pupils navigate the intricacies of grade exam prep for ABRSM or Trinity, focusing on the nuance of chord voicing and dynamics. By maintaining a slow, deliberate pace, I commit to helping you find your own authentic musical voice through steady, persistent refinement.

You will find that the time spent at the bench becomes a sanctuary where tone and touch take absolute precedence over mere velocity. Because I prioritize the pedagogical principles of Neuhaus and Perelman, our work together focuses on the physical mechanics that allow for deep, resonant expression in every phrase.
We dedicate time to the subtle calibration of your touch, ensuring that even the most technically demanding passages retain a sense of organic musicality. My Juilliard training provides the framework for these sessions, where we dissect every measure to ensure your performance reflects true intentionality. If you are preparing for exams or simply seeking a more profound connection to the repertoire, this unhurried process supports your growth. May your fingers discover the clarity and strength that define the traditions I hold dear.
