About Bella
About Me: Bella | English & Film at King's College London
Hi! I’m Bella, an English with Film Studies student at King’s College London. I bring a genuine passion for literature, text analysis, and writing to every single session. Having achieved Grade 9s in both GCSE English Language and English Literature, I understand exactly what top-tier examiners are looking for.Because I recently sat these exams myself, my knowledge of the current AQA and Edexcel exam board specifications is entirely fresh. I understand both the intense academic pressure and the emotional stress that students experience around essay deadlines and final exams.
My Approach: Combining Creativity with Exam PrecisionWhat makes me different as a tutor is that I focus on helping students actually enjoy and understand the subject, rather than just memorising rigid formulas. Alongside my degree, my background in creative writing, theatre, and journalism allows me to bring a modern, engaging perspective to our lessons. However, engagement never comes at the expense of results. I strictly teach the underlying structure, analytical vocabulary, and critical precision required to secure the highest marks. We will explore how literature connects to psychology, history, and storytelling, while simultaneously mastering the mark scheme.
️ Professionalism & What to Expect
I maintain a highly professional, reliable, and structured approach to private tuition. For every student, I provide:
Tailored Lesson Plans: Completely individualised sessions based on the student's specific weak points.
Active Essay Feedback: Clear, constructive, and detailed critique on writing style and thesis construction.
Confidence-First Mentoring: A patient, approachable, and encouraging environment designed specifically for students who feel overwhelmed or anxious about English.
My ultimate goal is for every student to leave our lessons feeling clearer, calmer, and significantly more capable than when they arrived.

My teaching style is calm, structured, and encouraging. I focus on helping students genuinely understand texts and essay technique rather than simply memorising quotes or rigid structures. I know that many students find English intimidating or overwhelming, so I aim to create a supportive environment where they can build confidence as well as improve grades.
Lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, whether that means improving essay structure, developing analytical skills, revising set texts, preparing for exams, or building confidence with creative writing and interpretation. I break tasks into manageable steps and use clear examples, guided practice, and discussion-based learning to help students think independently and write more fluently.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged during exam periods if needed.
I am currently studying English with Film Studies at King's College London and achieved top grades throughout school, including ten Grade 9s three A*s at A level (including A level Maths, Economics and English Literature and language). Alongside academic achievement, I have experience supporting younger students with essay writing, revision, and confidence-building, and I am particularly good at helping students who feel anxious or perfectionistic about English.
My lessons are primarily for GCSE students, but I can also support younger students, creative writers, and A-Level students depending on the subject area.
