About Susan
I majored in Latin in college and graduate school. I taught high school Latin for fifteen years, a vocabulary course using Latin roots and affixes for thirteen years, middle school Latin. Online I have been teaching Latin for over ten years to over fifty students.

My approach for students who want to learn Latin on their own is to use one of two texts that use a translation first approach, saving the grammar for explanation only. I also use these two texts if a student taking Latin at school is having problems with translation. For a student having problems with grammar and constructions, I look at homework, quiz, and test papers to see what the probems are, and give the student practice and strategies for mastering this difficult, but highly worthwhile, subject.
