About Maria
I hold and undergraduate degree in Law and French and have studied at Glasgow University and the Université de Fribourg and an Associate Diploma in Elocution from the London College of Music and Media.
I spent 5 years living in France, in Cachan (94) and Paris (75) and 1.5 years living in French-speaking Switzerland (Fribourg, Montreux). I use French at home with my family and speak English, French and the famous Franglish fluently! In both France and Switzerland, I worked as a university language tutor (une lectrice), translator and conference interpreter.
I am a qualified legal professional and have particular expertise in legal translation and vocabulary.

Bonjour à toutes et à tous!
My name is Maria and I live in Edinburgh. I am offering French tuition to adults of all levels, either online or in Edinburgh, who are seeking to improve their grammar, practice conversation, or who simply enjoy discussing French culture!
My courses generally follow a structure of a short grammar lesson followed by conversational French on a topic of modern culture or tailored to the students interests.
I try to encourage students to leave any fears or apprehensions at the door as we focus on gaining fluency, improving accent and retaining vocabulary tailored to your age, activities and interests. You cannot improve your language skills without making mistakes so errors are never to be feared!
My particular areas of interest include slang, pronunciation, current affairs and culture. I'm delighted to tailor my approach and materials to your individual interests. Language learning is most effective when enjoyable!
