About Rachel
I am an aspiring lawyer with excellent command of language - I wrote an award-winning dissertation whilst at University, I have published essays and report, and have been shortlisted and awarded prizes for written research since concluding my studies. I am currently in Bar School to become a barrister, but in the meantime am aiming to fund my studies by continuing to offer tutoring. I love to teach and have always enjoyed tutoring; prior to Bar school, it had been my ambition to become a teacher. In 2019 I obtained a Level 2 qualification with the ACF for instructor training, which qualified me to instruct members up to the age of 18. I have always had success with my tutees, and on average have achieved an improvement of 3 letter grades.

My personal approach to tutoring is to be as flexible to the needs of the tutee as possible. I assess the student's current level, goals and learning style, and adapt. Broadly, I like to use visual aids and make the learning as active as possible, as this is proven to have the best results. I structure learning by breaking down a subject into a topic syllabus, and mastering each topic before moving on to another. I provide regular feedback and will adjust strategy and schedule according to progress. I prefer to work longer-term with students, but I have a track record of achieving results in the short term also. My last student achieved a 3 letter grade improvement over a 2 month period. Sessions will be 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the customer. I am able to be flexible in terms of schedule. I have experience tutoring children from age 12 to undergraduate students in the first level of an LLB degree, and have experience tutoring across a broad spectrum - sciences and humanities at GCSE level and English, History, and Law for A-Level students.
