I focus more on the understanding part rather than just asking students to mugging up as I believe understanding a topic in depth could help the student to generate interest in the particular subject. I give different examples while teaching which makes learning intresting and increases understanding, I also try making learning a two way process as due to the participation of students, the understanding increases
