About Emma
Hi! I’m a second-year law student and Michigan State graduate who specializes in helping students strengthen their writing, college application essays, and standardized test skills.
I am a second-year law student at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and a graduate of Michigan State University, where I studied Human Biology and Psychology. My academic background has given me strong analytical, writing, and critical thinking skills that I enjoy helping students develop.
Throughout my education, I have spent years strengthening my ability to analyze complex material, organize ideas clearly, and communicate effectively in writing. I bring these same skills into my tutoring sessions to help students improve their reading comprehension, writing abilities, and test-taking strategies.
I am committed to creating a supportive and professional learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence in their abilities. My goal is not only to help students succeed academically, but also to give them the tools and strategies they can continue using independently.

My tutoring approach focuses on helping students develop strong analytical thinking, organization, and confidence in their academic abilities. As a second-year law student, I spend a significant amount of time breaking down complex ideas, building logical arguments, and communicating them clearly in writing. I bring these same skills into tutoring by helping students strengthen their reading, writing, and test-taking strategies.
I believe students learn best when they understand why something works rather than simply memorizing information. During sessions, I guide students through the reasoning process behind questions and assignments so they can develop skills that apply across many subjects.
Each session begins by identifying the student’s goals—whether that is preparing for an upcoming test, improving an essay, or practicing reading comprehension strategies. From there, we work through examples together and break down concepts step-by-step so students gain confidence and independence.
For essay writing and college applications, sessions often include brainstorming ideas, organizing outlines, strengthening arguments, and editing drafts for clarity. For ACT and SAT preparation, we focus on reading comprehension strategies, time management, and identifying patterns in test questions.
My background in Human Biology and Psychology from Michigan State University, combined with my legal education at Detroit Mercy School of Law, allows me to approach tutoring with both analytical and practical strategies. I focus on creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence in their abilities.
I work with middle school, high school, and college students who want to improve their writing, reading comprehension, and study strategies. I also help students preparing for the ACT or SAT and those working on college application essays or personal statements.
