About RODGERS
Hello! I’m Rodgers Birungi, a 5th-year medical student pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) at King Ceasor University, School of Medicine and Life Sciences in Kampala, Uganda.
I have a strong passion for health education, mental health awareness, and helping people understand addiction without fear, shame, or stigma. Through my medical training, I have developed a strong foundation in human biology, mental health, neuroscience, and the health effects of substance use and addictive behaviors.
My teaching style is friendly, patient, respectful, and easy to follow. I believe that difficult health topics become much easier when they are explained clearly and connected to real-life situations.
Whether you are a student, educator, caregiver, community member, or simply curious about addiction and recovery, I will create a welcoming learning environment where you can ask questions openly and learn at your own pace.
My goal is to make reliable health information understandable, practical, and meaningful while encouraging compassion toward people affected by addiction.

My lessons are a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free space to learn about addiction, recovery, prevention, relapse, mental health, and healthy living. I believe that understanding addiction starts with compassion, accurate information, and an open mind.
I explain difficult concepts in simple, relatable language and encourage learners to ask questions freely. I use real-life examples, discussions, case scenarios, diagrams, questions, and interactive activities to make each lesson engaging and meaningful. Where appropriate, I connect addiction with biology, psychology, neuroscience, behavior, and mental health.
A typical lesson begins with a friendly conversation about what you already know and what you would like to learn. We then explore the topic step by step, discuss practical examples, and finish with a simple recap of the most important points.
What sets me apart is my passion for health education and my medical background. As a 5th-year medical student pursuing an MBChB, I aim to make addiction education understandable, compassionate, evidence-informed, and free from unnecessary stigma.
These lessons are suitable for high-school students, college and university students, pre-medical and early medical students, educators, caregivers, community members, and anyone interested in learning more about addiction and recovery. The sessions are educational and are not a substitute for professional diagnosis, counseling, psychotherapy, or addiction treatment.

My current rate is $15 CAD per hour for personalized online addiction education and recovery-focused learning.
Your first 1-hour lesson is FREE, giving us an opportunity to discuss your learning goals, understand what you would like to explore, and experience my teaching approach before booking further sessions.
Lessons may cover addiction and the brain, causes and risk factors, substance use, behavioral addictions, effects on mental and physical health, prevention, recovery, relapse prevention, stigma, healthy coping strategies, and how families and communities can support recovery.
I welcome students, caregivers, educators, and anyone who wants to develop a better understanding of addiction in a respectful and judgment-free environment.
There are no additional charges for online lessons or educational materials provided as part of the session.
